FIFA 19’s The Journey: Champions is the third and final continuation of Alex Hunter’s story that directly follows on from the events that occurred in FIFA 18.  Along with Hunter’s story, players can also experience the complete journey of both Kim Hunter’s and Danny Williams rise to stardom across all four-story chapters.

From essential tips, chapter objectives, and potential rewards, this page contains everything you need to know about Alex Hunter’s final journey.

EditTips and Tricks For The Journey: Champions

EditSwitch Heroes

Having dabbled very lightly in FIFA 18 with the option to play as Danny and Kim, The Journey: Champions now follows each of the three heroes’ through their own journey to stardom. However, with all storylines optional to play through, it is highly recommended that if you do choose to play through each of the three-different hero’s story, that you switch between them when it is recommended by the game.

By selecting the recommended path – which is indicated by a compass above the recommended hero’s story – it will help provide the optimal curated narrative experience, making the cinematics and storyline flow so much better.

EditPersonality

An important part of FIFA 19’s Journey story mode is answering unique questions while off the field, whether this is answering questions from the press, responding to other players, or simply making a business decision between your managers. The biggest catch is though, that a hero’s (Alex, Kim, or Danny) responses will be given three different personality options, with each personality affecting their relationship with other characters, as well as their temperament on the pitch.

Each different personality comes with its own set of disadvantages and consequences, with can be seen below.

  • Responding with the Fiery (Alex) / Showman (Danny) | Brash (Kim) option will help your hero gain extra fans, which in return also increases commercial opportunities, but will lose you favor with the manager.
  • Responding with Balanced gives you the best of both worlds, making the hero’s play on the pitch the primary influence on his manager and fan relationships.
  • Responding with Cool (Alex) / Swagger (Danny) / Nerdy (Kim) will help your hero gain the approval of the manager, which will ultimately help determine your hero’s time on the pitch, but your hero will sacrifice the chance of attracting fewer fans.

Ultimately though, as long you maintain exceptional performance both on the pitch and during training, the chance of your personality choices affecting your play time on the field is very little to none at all.

EditTraining

If you want your hero to progress, you are going to want to attend and complete every training session manually, as it will award the most amount of points possible. Not only will these points be used to target specific attributes for improvement, but as your player increase their overall rating, you will unlock Skill Points. These skill points can then be used to unlock unique player traits.

It’s important to remember that each drill will give the player three different tries to get the highest score possible, whereas simulating the training session could run you the risk of falling a very simple and straightforward drill.

EditPlay As A Team

A common mistake that is often made during The Journey is that many fans will eventually end up playing as Hunter or another hero while selecting how you want to play your match, however, you’ll quickly come to learn that it is much more difficult than you had initially imagined. This particular option will allow you to only control Hunter on the field, but you can still make decisions to receive passes from your teammates by pressing the pass button, the same goes for through balls, and you can even command your teammate to shoot for goal.

While playing as Hunter may be your preferred choice, we highly recommend playing a team, as it not only makes the game much more enjoyable to play, but it makes completing objectives just that much easier.

EditManager’s Rating

If you’re planning on breaking into the Starting XI every match, you are going to want to increase your hero’s manager rating. Vital to always making the starting squad, you can increase your manager rating by performing well in training (receiving A’s) and matches. Without maintaining a rating in the Starting XI, don’t be expecting to start, but rather sat or the bench until the second half or worse yet, placed down as a reserve.

EditPerformance Report

Keep on the manager’s good side by successfully completing each of the objectives on the Performance report during each game. Completing these on-field challenges will not only improve your manager rating, but you’ll also be given the opportunity to continue playing, as low on-field performance can ultimately get you subbed off.

The best way to increase your match rating is by scoring goals and making successful plays, with goals and passes often being the easiest and fastest way to increase the rating. In most cases, performance objectives can range from achieving targeted match ratings, scoring goals, making plays, or simply breaking a deadlock.
